Seasons are overrated

I've tried to be positive about winter. I really have. I've thought about how great it is that I'm burning extra calories to keep my core body temperature where it is supposed to be. I've thought how wonderful spring will actually seem once it gets here.

But this- "highs" in the single digits with windchills below zero- sucks. I mean it really does. I can't tell you how many people have said, "I bet it's nice to have seasons." No, it's not. Not winter, anyway. If I never saw ice or snow again for the rest of my life it would be too soon.

I must say that when the weather is nice in central Illinois, it is *nice.* Gorgeous. Better than Texas. (Yeah, I said it.)

I would much rather live in a place where I can throw a sweatshirt on the kids and run to the store. But no, where I live it's like a freaking production:
Put on shoes and sweater.
Pull the car out.
Turn the defrosters on.
Put the heater on to "blast furnace."
Lock car doors.
Run inside.
Take off shoes so you don't track snow all over the house.
Put baby in a coat and hat.
Put her in the infant seat.
Wrestle Zach to the ground.
Put his sweatshirt on, followed by socks and shoes.
Put his coat and hat on.
Tell Haley for the bajillionth time that she cannot wear her shorts out today.
Get baby.
Put my shoes back on.
Take baby outside.
Unlock car.
Place baby in car.
Lock car doors.
Run inside.
Grab Zach.
Unlock car doors.
Put him in his car seat.
Lock car doors.
Go inside for my coat.
Get Haley's coat on.
Lock house door.
Unlock car doors.
Help Haley buckle.

At this point, someone either needs to potty or has done so in their diaper and I have lost the will to live. I just want a nap.

Seasons are overrated.
